Glowing Ghost Lantern with Mod Podge Stiffy

Is this not the most elegant little ghost you've ever seen?! 👻 I made this glowing ghost lantern using **Mod Podge Stiffy** and **Mod Podge Crafty Cloth** — and honestly, it might be my favorite Halloween make this year. The fabric soaks up the stiffener, you drape it over a bottle, let it dry into the sweetest ghost shape, and tuck it inside a lantern with fairy lights. When the lights are on, she GLOWS. It's spooky, it's classy, and it took way less effort than it looks like.

**Supplies**

- Mod Podge Stiffy fabric stiffener
- Mod Podge Crafty Cloth (white chiffon)
- Scissors
- Disposable gloves
- Small bottle or balloon (to shape the ghost while it dries)
- Lantern
- String of warm-white LED fairy lights (battery operated)
- Clear fishing line or invisible thread (optional, for hanging)

**Instructions**

**Step 1: Cut your fabric**
Cut a piece of Mod Podge Crafty Cloth roughly 12–18 inches square, depending on how big you want your ghost. Bigger cloth = bigger, drapier ghost.

**Step 2: Saturate with Stiffy**
Put on your gloves and pour Mod Podge Stiffy into a shallow dish. Submerge the cloth and work the stiffener through it until every bit is saturated — squeeze out the excess so it's damp, not dripping.

**Step 3: Shape your ghost**
Drape the wet cloth over an upside-down bottle or a balloon so it forms a rounded ghost shape with the fabric falling naturally around it. Arrange the folds the way you like them — this is your ghost's personality!

**Step 4: Let it dry completely**
Leave the ghost to dry fully — this can take several hours or overnight depending on humidity. Don't rush it; it needs to be completely stiff before you move it. I let mine dry overnight.  Thicker project require more time. Once dry, gently lift it off the bottle.

**Step 5: Add the lights**
Place your LED fairy lights inside the lantern, then nestle the dried ghost over or around them so the light glows through the fabric. If you want the ghost to hang, tie fishing line around its top and suspend it from the top of the lantern.

**Step 6: Style and enjoy!**
Set your lantern on the mantel, the porch, or the entryway table. Flip on the lights at dusk and watch your little ghost come to life. Spooky season = officially started. 🎃

**Tips**

- **Work fast once the cloth is wet** — Stiffy starts setting as it dries, so get your folds arranged before it firms up.
- **Protect your surface** with wax paper or a craft mat; Stiffy is sticky until dry.
- **Experiment with fabric** — lace, cheesecloth, and gauze all make gorgeous ghosts with different textures.
- **Battery fairy lights are safest** inside a lantern — no heat, no cords, and most have a timer function.
- **Make a whole family** of ghosts in different sizes and cluster them together for maximum impact.
